LATTITUDE OFFICE STAFF
Having taught at Capilano University for nearly 30 years (the last 15 in the Global Stewardship Program) Cam is well aware of how Gap years lead directly to student success in university. He's been fortunate to work & travel through Europe, East and Southeast Asia, Africa, Central and South America and looks forward to sharing those experiences with future Lattitude Volunteers.
Pia has been managing the Canada program since 2011. She’s always enjoyed travel and other cultures. While she’s originally from Sweden, she has lived most of her life abroad including the US, Iran, Switzerland & Australia before immigrating to Canada 20 years ago. When Pia isn't working at Lattitude, she can be found exploring the outdoors or at the dojo. She’s excited to connect other young people with this beautiful multicultural country.
Zahida’s history with Lattitude goes way back to the early 2000s, when the program was under its former name, GAP Activity Projects. After some time away working with other non-profit organizations, she is thrilled to be back with Lattitude. She has traveled widely in Latin America, Europe, and Africa. Zahida is based in Victoria, BC and outside of Lattitude, you can find her running on her local trails.
In her youth, Marcia took a gap year to volunteer at a reforestation project in Costa Rica. After her placement, she hiked and traveled across Ecuador. Through the years, Marcia’s travels have also taken her to Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and to several countries in Western Europe and Scandinavia. Marcia’s youngest son volunteered with Lattitude in 2018. His experience was incredibly positive, and inspired her to become more involved with the organization. Marcia is genuinely thrilled to engage with young people as they explore life beyond high school. Marcia lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. She’s an outdoor enthusiast, plays flute in an amateur chamber orchestra, and loves running with her Bernese Mountain dog, Maggie.
Rebecca studied French and Fine Art at the University of Guelph and, after graduating, ended up in Japan teaching English for five years. That led her to living/working and traveling in Australia, Ecuador, Europe, South East Asia, Kelowna, and California over the last 20 years. She has two teenagers who also love to travel and she is based in Collingwood, Ontario. Other passions include painting and doing yoga.
Having just returned from her trip around the world visiting over 35 countries, Jalyssa is thrilled to share the benefits of the life enriching experiences from being abroad. She has also taught in the Dominican Republic, Spain and Norway with other organizations and loves having lifelong friends from all over the globe. When Jalyssa isn’t working, she enjoys dreaming up her next adventure or playing a good board game. She is excited to connect with young people who want to explore our breathtaking world!
Owen is currently on secondment to our New Zealand office and we look forward to having him back with the Canadian team upon his return. Owen has traveled extensively as a touring musician and as a 'GAPPIE'. He's worked and lived in Australia and Italy and traveled to countries in Asia, Europe and Central America.
